Jacquesson Cuvee 744 Extra Brut Champagne
What it is:
45% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier and 35% Pinot Noir. 70% of the blend comes from the 2016 vintage, the remaining 30% comes from a selection of their reserve wines. Aged for four years on its lees, from the Champagne region of France.
Why we like it:
Jacquesson Champagne is one of the oldest houses in Champagne. In the 1980's when the Chicquet brothers took over from their father a new generation was born. They moved the vineyards towards herbicide free and decided to focus on the specific terroir. The 700 series started with the 2000 vintage (728), the number increases every vintage. By using a number instead of a vintage Jacquesson is able to make the base wine from predominantly one vintage but add in reserve wines to complete the year's offering. These are special wines that make a great gift for the wine collector in your life.
