2020 Pierre Gerbais Coteaux Champenois

What it is:

100% Chardonnay aged in Stainless Steel for 10 months. From the Champ Viole vineyard. From the Champagne region of France.

Why we like it:

Coteaux Champenois was once a rare offering to see in Ontario. As the vintages continue to be warm in Champagne making a still wine that is complex and has achieved full ripeness has become easier. This is a wonderful example of Chardonnay, Pierre Gerbais is in the southern end of Champagne. His vineyards are close to Chablis and share a lot of their characteristics. This is easily compared to excellent Premier Cru Chablis.
