Guy Breton

Guy Breton, a renowned Burgundy vintner and co-founder of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti winery, is something of an ambassador for French viticulture. He apprenticed in Beaune when his family's business suffered from the Great French Wine Blight of the 19th century. His path to success began two decades later as a winemaker and truffle hunter, but eventually led him to domaine status after joining forces with fellow vintners in 1869. Guiding by his passion for nature and forward-thinking methods, he developed a strong oeuvre that pushed boundaries and elevated Burgundy wine into the realm of art. Today, regardless of one’s opinion on his wines, there's no denying Breton’s masterful approach to creating drinks as much defined by excellence as complexity.
